Native Americans: The 12 Tribes of Michigan 

Excerpt from article: “In Michigan, three reservations have sizable land mass and inhabitants, none as large as out west, but tribal lands for the 12 recognized Michigan Native American tribes are similar to upstate New York – spread out, often not-contiguous, small.

A majority of the Native American population in Michigan no longer lives on reservations, but in cities. According to Fay Givens, executive director of American Indian Services in Lincoln Park, which provides social services to about 50,000 Native Americans in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties, about 75 percent of Indians live in cities, with about 25 percent remaining on reservations.”
